Description
Athens Half Day Walking tour and Acropolis
Wander within old and modern paths of Athens city center and discover the ancient Greek’s spirit birthplace.
Syntagma square is the fist stop, and the central square of Athens. Have the opportunity to see the change of the ceremonial unit, Evsones or Tsoliades, that guards the war memorial monument, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, located in front of the Greek Parliament.
Walk through National Garden which encloses some ancient ruins and other features, to the Zappeion Hall, a palatial building, the Columns of the Olympian Zeus, a temple dedicated to Zeus, the head of the Olympian gods, Hadrian's Gate, a monumental gateway.
The old historical neighborhood of Athens, Plaka, with its narrow streets and neoclassical buildings is known as the neighborhood of the Gods, as is the closest to the Acropolis.
Your steps leads you to Propylaea, the entrance of Acropolis. Admire the Temple of Athena Nike and Parthenon, a temple dedicated to the goddess of wisdom, Athena, symbol of democracy and Western civilization. From there have the chance to see from the top the Athenian Agora, the Observatory, the Hill of Democracy (Pnyx), Mars and Philoppapos Hill, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, and the Theater of Dionysus.
Tour ends outside Acropolis Museum, grab the chance to visit it on your own and deepen in the findings, marble sculptures and mosaics!
