Description

Elafonisi Beach with small snack guided day trip into the southwest

The drive to the wild southwest of Crete will enchant you with its beautiful landscape.
You will stop in the small town of Elos in the morning for a short break for breakfast and to taste the delicious Greek yoghurt with honey (included in the price). From here it is not far to what is perhaps the most beautiful beach in Crete - Elafonissi (Deer Island).
In front of the dune landscape covered with pine and juniper trees lies a flat, fine sand beach, which shimmers pink in places due to many broken shells. Elafonisi is a protected "Natura 2000" area and you can find here white sand lilies and junipers and the endangered turtle Caretta-Caretta nests here.
To the opposite island of Elafonissi you can wade through the shallow turquoise lagoon, the water is not more than waist-deep. Spend the day on this dream beach before stopping at the small cave chapel of Agia Sofia on the way back, before returning to the hotel in the afternoon.
